This is the first game of the regular season so I do not know what to expect. Both teams have a very good warm-up and now it’s time for kickoff. The Kickers start with the ball. Both teams look to have some talent. This game could go either way, however, it looks like The Kickers seem to be a lot quicker than the Rusty Faces. The Kickers look like they want to score early but the goalkeeper for Rusty Face is able to get in front of the ball, denying them any chance to score early. During one play, a player on the Rusty Face team tries to sprint down field with the ball. However, two players on the Kickers have other ideas, stopping the momentum he had. Then Mike Devin of the Kickers is able to have a one-touch shot on goal and scores to make it 1-0 Kickers 3 minutes into the game. Throughout the first half, Kyle on Rusty Face has some nice shots on goal, however, he misses wide. As the first half comes to a close the score remains 1-0. Rusty Face had some nice opportunities to score in the half but weren’t too lucky- they were a bit rusty.
As we begin the second half, Rusty Face starts with the ball. About four minutes into the half, a player on Rusty Face gets a shot off and the goalie is able to deflect it, but another player on Rusty Face gets the rebound and scores to tie the game up at 1-1. A few minutes later they had a chance to take the lead but were rejected by the wall about an inch from scoring the go-ahead goal. Then with less than three minutes left in the game Eric Fitzgerald from the Kickers is able to use his fancy footwork and score the go-ahead goal and put them up 2-1 and that’s how the game ends: 2-1 The Kickers.
After the game, I had the chance to talk the captain of The Kickers. He said it was exciting to be game of the week, and he believes his team will win it all.
